Thursday, March 31, 2022 – The Fourth Week of Lent

The Feast of St. Guy of Pomposa

St. Guy was meticulous in his appearance until realizing that having such vanity was not Christ-like.  From this point forward, he dressed in rags and studied to become a monk. His virtue was quickly recognized & he rose to the position of abbot at Saint Severus abbey, Ravenna, Italy.  So many came to join him, including his father & brother, that he had to build another abbey in Pomposa.   Several times a year, he sought solitude to spend his time in prayer, fasting and mortifications.  While visiting Italy, King Henry III summoned him and St. Guy set out to him, fell ill and died three days later.
